Services — Lasting Powers of Attorney

If you couldn't make decisions tomorrow, who could make them for you?

A Lasting Power of Attorney lets you choose, in advance, who is legally allowed to act on your behalf — before it's ever needed.

What Is A Lasting Power Of Attorney

The authority to act, granted only to people you trust.

An LPA is a legal document that lets you appoint someone you trust — a spouse, a child, a close friend — to make decisions for you if you're ever unable to make them yourself. There are two types: one covering property and financial affairs, and one covering health and welfare.

It ensures the person acting for you is the person you actually chose.

What Happens Without One

Without it, the choice of who acts for you is no longer yours to make.

Without a registered LPA, nobody — not even a spouse — has an automatic legal right to make decisions on your behalf if you lose capacity, whether through illness, an accident, or age. Your family would instead need to apply to the Court of Protection: a process that can take months, cost significantly more than putting an LPA in place in advance, and is ultimately decided by a court, not by you.

By the time it's needed, it's already too late to arrange.
